Scout, I haven't had a problem getting it out, but have used an o-ring pick type tool when others were stuck. They are not considered reusable so ruining it should not be a concern, it gets replaced whenever the pipe is removed. Unless you can get the pipe back in exactly the same place and want to depend on a already crushed gasket to not leak exhaust out or air in. Want a good place for a backfire to start have an air leak at that point and allow some oxygen in that already hot air stream with extra fuel in it. Max
